Dry Eye

Dry eye is a common condition that causes a spectrum of symptoms from discomfort and irritation to visual degradation. It is more common in women, people who have other ocular conditions such as glaucoma, blepharitis and macular degeneration. There are also  systemic diseases and autoimmune conditions which can contribute.

Dry eye is diagnosed at the slit lamp as well as by using various dyes to stain the front of the eye and taking measurements of tear production and composition. There are various treatments available for dry eye including a variety of eye drops, punctual plugs and tablets.
