This area of interest is often formailised by the doctirs undertaking a two year Fellowship that involves dedicated study in a particular disease or process of the eye. This enables the doctors to be classifyed as a sub-specialist. Sub-specialists have the greatest knowledge of diagnosing, and skills in treating their particilaur speciality.
